Literature DIY

I love literature and I love writing, as most of you should already know. However, I did my associate in Culinary Arts and got into writing. Through the years, I have thought about going back to school and pursuing Literature. However, I don’t want to be bothered by other classes. So, I decided to create Literature DIY.

I love English literature as well as European literature, and I got my list of books from various YouTube sources that have studied literature here and in Europe. I curated a list of books I wanted to read. I started by picking the authors for whom I already have books. There is an approach I am going to work with, and I will list it all below for you. If this is something you would like to do yourself, you can embark on this journey DIY.

I have always wanted to be a well-read woman. I think it is sexy and also very educational, especially the field I am in. I love words, and there is no better way to tackle literature books than by putting yourself up for a challenge. Being a mother of three busy girls and having my writing and project that I am working on I did not want to go back to college to pursue this. I thought about doing it online, but my main reasons for doing this was for being a well-read woman and also for writing better so here I am doing my little DIY.

As I mentioned, most of my material was from various people I found on YouTube who are doing something similar or are already studying literature. Therefore, many of these books might not interest you. Along with books, I will be covering essays, poetry, children’s literature, and plays. However, I am just concentrating on books this time, especially the ones that I own and want to dive into. I have already started reading one of the books and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Yes, I am an avid reader so I wont be only reading books that are on my list, I will also be reading books that I love reading for leisure. However, my concentration on the books right now are the literature DIY books. But there are many books on my list that are not from DIY and one of them I am reading for leisure is Blue Sisters By Coco Mellors. I will be posting videos and blogs about my journey so stay tuned.

Let's get into it:

1st year books:

Jane Eyre By: Charlotte Bronte
A Christmas Carol By: Charles Dickens
Burnaby By: Charles Dickens
War and Peace By: Leo Tolstoy
Anna Kerenina By: Leo Tolstoy
Les Miserables By:Victor Hugo
The Count of Monte Cristo By: Alexandre Dumas
Crime and Punishment By: Fyodor Dostoevsky
Hamlet by Shakespeare
And lastly but not the least, Palimpsests by Gerard Genette

I own most of these books but there are a few I have ordered also. They will be coming in the next few weeks. I made a TBR cart dedicated to my year-one reading. I also dedicated a notebook to take notes on the books I am reading.

I am also currently working on my writing, so I am reading two writing craft books.

1. Narratology By. Mieke Bal

2. Several Short Sentences About Writing By: Verlyn Klinkenborg.

Both of these books were recommended by Christy Anne Jones on her YouTube channel. The other two YouTubers I mentioned earlier are Strange Lucidity and Chantel Reads All Day.

These are the books I will be concentrating on. I will also read secondary readings. There is no particular order in which I will be reading these books. I do travel a lot so it depends on which book I am taking with me while traveling. I am excited about this journey. I will keep you posted via YouTube and my blogs.

Stay tuned. Au Revoir!
